Grace was from Manila. Like other single women, yes, she was waiting for that guy God has prepared for her. And while waiting, she was serving actively in Singles for Christ. Gioven was from Cebu. His parents decided to bring the whole family and migrate to Manila to look for greener pastures when he was seven years old. Unknowingly, he didn’t know that this will lead him closer to his one true love. Just like these few lines from a song written by David Pomeranz, “Too many billion people... running around the planet... what is the chance in heaven... that you’d find your way to me...” Certainly, without a shadow of doubt, this was God’s hand orchestrating things to happen according to His great plan.
They met in one of the activities in Singles for Christ. Grace was the speaker at that time while Gioven was one of the participants. They got to know each other since then and eventually, they became friends and the rest was a fairy tale-turned-true story.
They decided to commit into a relationship on the 23 of June 2010. Shortly after that, they needed to part ways because Gioven decided to go back to Cebu and start his own business there. It was a tough decision. Yet, through those months that they were apart, the love that they had grew even more each day because they believe that distance never separates two hearts that care.
Others may say that long distance relationships often times do not come off. Yet here they are, prepared to tie the knot in few months time. They may belong to that fraction of probability but they have showed that distance means so little when someone means so much.
